Invecas, the three year-old Hyderabad fabless start-up, has bought the HDMI operation of Lattice Semiconductor and its Simplay Labs subsidiary which looks after standards compliance and interoperability testing.

Invecas was founded by the former managing director of AMD India, Dasaradha R Gude.

“This transaction will be a tremendous addition to our technical capabilities,” says Gude, “it will enable us to broadly influence our customers’ standards connectivity roadmaps and will provide better insight into their product development.”

The acquisition will involve the transfer of 150 R&D staff from Lattice facilities in the USA, China and India.

“This strategic transaction does not only help us support our existing business, but also fosters a collaboration between the companies to speed the development and adoption of both existing and new HDMI standards,” says Lattice CEO Darin Billerbeck, “we are confident that Invecas will continue to pioneer HDMI by providing world class IP and services.”

Invecas has done some M&A before including the takeovers of Kool Chip of California, Squid Systems of Hyderabad  and Bengaluru-based Krivi Semiconductor.
