Hyundai and H2 sign deal for 1000 hydrogen-fuelled trucks

Hyundai is teaming up with H2 of Switzerland to supply 1,000 hydrogen fuel cell powered trucks to the Swiss market in the next five years starting at the end of next year.
The timing schedule beats Tesla which plans to supply EV trucks to the country in 2020 and Daimler which plans to introduce them 2021.
Hyundai first launched a hydrogen fuel cell powered car in 2013and has maintained an enthusiasm for the technology.
“Hydrogen has been talked about as the ultimate solution for zero emissions in the auto industry for decades,” says Hyundai Motor vice chairman Woong-chulWang (pictured), “there was reluctance because the technology of fuel-cell vehicles wasn’t mature enough, but now it is.”
Recently Hyundai announced a partnership with Audi in June to share hydrogen car technology and components and reduce production costs.
Hyundai’s trucks are expected to have a range of 400 miles.
After Switzerland, the roll-out is expected to be extended to the USA, China and other European countries.
Hyundai Motor has sold about 1,100 hydrogen fuel-powered cars since they introduced their first one, the Tucson, in 2013.
