Anglia outlines ambition to double sales to £100m in next five years

Distributor Anglia has revealed plans to almost double its turnover to £100m in the next five years after it posted another year of growth.
The Cambridgeshire-based business, which was the fifth biggest distributor in the UK in 2016 according to the Electronic Components Supply Network (ECSN), is also aiming to grow its share of the UK market to 10% by 2022.
CEO Steve Rawlins laid out the firm’s ambitions after it posted 2016 turnover of £52.7m, up 7.6% on the previous year. He said the company was on track to grow to just under £61m in turnover this year.
Rawlins said that the business had benefited from its investment in customer service and people and highlighted the addition of a new customer dashboard, Anglia Sigma, as an example of this.
Anglia Sigma provides analysis of current, forward and historical orders and enquiries, as well as a vendor rating feature showing Anglia’s delivery performance. “We have challenged our competitors to publish their delivery performance figures, which they have so far failed to do,” he said.
He added that the company had strengthened its inventory last autumn, allowing, the said, the business to support customers as supply tightens and the industry moves to allocation.
The company is also hiring for six field application engineers.
“The UK market is buoyant, with manufacturing exports boosted because sterling is now at the right level. Our forward order book is stronger now that it’s ever been.”
