The House of Commons says it is working with the National Cyber Security Centre, which was set up last year as part of GCHQ, and has shut down MPs’ remote access to the parliamentary email system.
The system was hit by a hacking attack which resulted in MPs’ passwords being sold on-line.
“We’ve seen reports in the last few days of even cabinet ministers’ passwords being for sale online,” says Liam Fox, Secretary of State for International Trade (pictured), “we know that our public services are attacked so it’s not at all surprising that there should be an attempt to hack into parliamentary emails.”
Jeremy Corbyn told a Glastonbury audience that it “indicates just how vulnerable we are to cyber-attacks”.
